The city of Nice

Nice is the largest city on the French Riviera with 930 000 inhabitants only 30 kms away from the italian boarder.

Nice is well known for its historic center with the Cours Saleya (typical flower market) and local restaurants, the Matisse and Chagall Museums, and the famous Promenade des Anglais.

Ski resorts are just one hour's drive away from Nice.

From the port, you can board the ferries reaching Corsica within a few hours.

Gastronomic specialities are : "Salade Niçoise, "Pan Bagnat" (sort of local sandwich with tuna and vegetables), "Socca", "Farcis Niçois", "Pissaladière", Ratatouille", just to name a few.

From Nice, you can discover towards the east cities like Eze Village, Monaco, Vintimiglia and San Remo in Italy, or heading west cities like Cagnes sur Mer, Antibes, Grasse and the perfume factories, Saint Paul de Vence, Cannes, Saint Tropez ... .


 

 

Riviera Pass

One interesting and money worthy way to discover Nice and its surrounding, is to get a Riviera Pass, valid for 24, 48 or 72 hours which gives you plenty of possibilities and access to most of the museums in the city and around, flower gardens, rides on most of the buses, and even Marineland in Antibes (with 72 hours pass).

Historic Center and Flower Market

This very typical market is situated at the  Court Saleya near the sea front. It is opened every day except Mondays and Sundays afternoon. Have a strool around the market place and the surrounding older part of the city with is typical architecture. Take a walk up to the castle which dominates the beautiful bay of Nice.

 

 

 

Russian church

Build in 1903, this church is the largest orthodox cathedral outside Russia and its architecture is really astonishing. Very easy access from our hotel, only a few hundred meters away.

Velos Bleus (Bicycles to rent)

This is a very unusual way to discover the city : all around the city, you will find bikes rental stations on the street (blue painted). You can pick up one of these bikes at one place and drop it off at another place : there are about 90 stations around the city ! We will more than happy to inform how it works.
